The story behind
In winter of 2023, just before the release of my last single “Don't Give Up Now” my uncle passed away suddenly. After returning from Barbados for the funeral, where I was honoured to sing my rendition of “As the Deer/Eye on the Sparrow” I felt the push again upon my heart to continue sharing my story through song. On one hand, I wanted to curl up on the couch and cry. On the other, I wanted to make sure others knew through song, that they weren't alone in their grief and pain.
What a dichotomy it is to live!
I started production on one original plus a cover song, but later that spring God showed us that He had it in the plans for our family to move, and for me to homeschool in the fall.
Settling into a new home and preparing for a homeschool year crowded out the push to share new music. Though the desire remained under the surface, burning like an ember - I found myself saying “there's no way I can do this now” or “things need to settle way down first…” and while there is certainly truth to not being able to do everything at times, I began to recognize the voice. It was the same voice that kept me from sharing my music in the first place. And I needed to bring it under authority to God's word.
I can do what He calls me to.
While it may not be as speedy as others with full-time hours to devote, God only requires that I do what I can. So that's what I'm endeavouring to do. <3
The songs that I want to share next are focused as much on my artistry as my message. They are a continuation of my journey to figure out who I am as an Artist. They are songs that help me to explore & develop my sound, while sharing my faith.
They don't cohesively follow my journey through a difficult experience like the Beginnings EP did, but they are each a reflection of a piece of my heart.
My prayer is that they will touch yours.
